The Breast Cancer 3 Day - Heather Kramer
If you had to walk 60 miles to save your mother's life... would you do it?
What if it was your sister's life? Your daughter's? Your best friend's? What if it was your own life?
1 out of every 9 women in America will develop breast cancer in her lifetime... that's a new case diagnosed every 3 minutes. Every 13 minutes, another woman loses her life to this disease.
Look around you. Think of all the beautiful, wonderful women that have touched your life. Now imagine 1 in every 9 of them with cancer.
My mother, Sandra, is one of those women. Five years ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had no lumps. She had no symptoms. She had no history. But luckily, she did have a mammogram. It probably saved her life.
This October 11-13, I will be participating in Avon's 3 Day for Breast Cancer. I will be walking 60 miles in 3 days to raise money and awareness for this epidemic. I have made a commitment to raise $5000.
I have never before pledged myself to such a huge undertaking.
I am doing this, of course, in honor of my mother. But I am also doing it for the women in your life. Please honor them by donating to this most worthy cause. I have included information on the donate link at left about how you can donate in a special person's name. Your sponsorship will support research and clinical care for women all around the country. It will raise awareness and encourage women to get mammograms early and often. The five-year survival rate for patients treated for early-stage breast cancer is 96%.
